Gunmen reportedly kidnapped a total of 28 travelers in business buses along the Ado-Akure highway in Ondo state.

It was noted that the gunmen swooped on Tuesday’s travelers ‘ cars while navigating through the road’s poor parts.

The travelers were in two cars, an 18-seater bus and the other a 9-seater car with their driver, according to local inhabitants.

A video of the incident published on Twitter showed how the area’s inhabitants complained about the road’s poor condition, making it simpler for kidnappers to function.

“Our vehicles pass through Ilawe now. Who will bail him if someone is abducted among us? We wonder the situation of those abducted passengers ‘ families is going to be right now, “said one of the inhabitants in the video.

The event occurred hours after the elevated rate of kidnappings in the region met with stakeholders in Ibadan, Oyo state.

The governors agreed to set up joint patrol teams across the area to reduce crime “terrorize” innocent people’s operations and make the roads dangerous for travelers. They emphasized the need for police from the state and the community.
